I never knew Boy was a fan of the Boomtown Rats song. What is it about a Monday? Is he preparing me for the years to come of trying to get him organised for school in the future. Will he suffer Mondayitis when he starts work? It is no different to any other day of the working week in his little world. Mummy is home & Daddy is off to work. However, he is always grumpy, whinge & clingy. I often wonder if it is related to Daddy not being home. He has just had 2 days with Daddy around & then all of a sudden it is back to boring Mummy. Daddy is the “rock star” of his little world. He has known to be crying in my arms & as soon as Daddy walks into the room his face will light up with a smile!!
Once I used to try & keep Monday quite to help establish a routine of good sleep after a weekend. I thought the reason why Boy was grumpy on a Monday was due to sleep problems. At the same time I would clean the house & do the washing. I soon realised he was much happier if we spent time out of the house. Even a walk down to the local café makes Boy happier.
Yesterday was no different. To help cope with the day we went for a short walk to the local supermarket to pick-up a few items I had forgotten when I did the big shop at one of the big 2 supermarkets. In the afternoon I had a coffee with one of the mother’s from the mum & bub group. It certainly helped the day past. It used to be hell when we stayed at home so I could establish a good routine. I remember clock watching & thinking it is only 4 hrs to go until bath-time, 3 hrs to go and so on.
On the upside he was grizzling all day until 5pm. I don’t know what happened at 5pm but he suddenly became happy. Did he sense the “rock star” would be home soon? It did make my life a little easier. He stopped crawling around the house grizzling & requiring me to pick him up for a cuddle & was happy to play by himself while I organised dinner out.
Does anyone have any tactics to cope with a Monday?
